How To Use
STEP 1 – PRE-COLOURING: Remember to be colour safe and always do your patch test 48 hours before using this L'Oreal Preference silver hair dye, even if you have already used colouring products before. Please follow the instruction leaflet and read the safety information.
STEP 2 – PREPARATION: Cover your shoulders with a towel and put on the gloves. Open the colouring bottle and pour it entirely into the developer bottle. Close with the applicator tip and shake it to obtain a completely even mixture. Twist off the applicator tip immediately to avoid bursting and damage from the product overflowing.
STEP 3 – APPLY COLOUR: Part your hair into small, even sections and apply the silver grey hair dye. Refer to instructions for development time. Apply conditioner that preserves the silver hair colour and then rinse thoroughly.

A vivid warm red - suits olive and warm skin tones

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My hair is naturally a level 1-2 but has been lightened to a level 4. This formula mixes easily but comes out rather runny - so be careful to cover clothes and carpets. I’ve had really bright hot roots in the past from dying my hair with an intense hair colour with lift, so I didn’t leave it on my roots for too long. This worked fine. There is ammonia in the formulation so it does dry your hair out - not for already damaged hair and it smells really strong. That said the shade came out a warm red that was flattering for my skin tone. I’m trying not to wash it too much but plan to top it up with temporary hair colour in between doing my roots to keep it looking vibrant.

Please PLEASE bring back the old formula

I have been red for 12 years and I have been using the Loreal Paris Preference brand since day one but in the previous colour formula of Pure Scarlet and London (very intense red). I don't know WHY thet changed the formula again but this version is FAR too light. It's a good 3 shades lighter than the previous formula which means it fades so much faster and makes it look so washed out. It's such a shame because this was my ride or die (I mean ride or dye...?)
Now I will have to find another brand because this is just unusable on my hair. Please, PLEASE bring it back - I am begging you.

Faded so quickly

Changed hair colour to Bright Red from copper, the gel is quite runny and can make a bit of a mess if you're not careful. This smell isn't too overpowering which is good. However, the dye isn't particularly strong as it has faded so much already after 2 washes particularly on my ends which has never happened with other brands before. So I currently have very vibrant red roots and front section and almost watermelon/grapefruit coloured ends and back despite using the conditioner and red enhancing shampoo. I even tried reapplying the colour but it refuses to take leaving me to believe that this colour isn't suitable for already coloured hair. Wouldn't recommend and will be going back to Garnier Ultra Colour or Swarzkopf Live.

Not good for mid-dark brown hair

Despite the pictures on the box for each starting hair colour, my medium brown hair just went a darker brown after using the “bright red” dye. There is a definite red cast to my hair in strong sunlight but nothing like the results shown. My hair also felt very very parched and frizzy after the using this, substantially more so than with other permanent at home box dyes, even compared to other L’Oréal ranges. Would never purchase any colour from this range again myself nor recommend it to anyone with dry hair or any shade from medium brown or deeper.

Nowhere near as good as the previous colour

I tried this as P67, the previous shade I used, was discontinued. Went in okay but not as evenly due to needing to go onto dry hair vs wet hair. A bright colour but was quite faded after two weeks. So: not as rich a colour as I liked, not as good to get an even result, and didn't last as a colour. I will not buy this again. I hope that L'Oreal listens to customers and brings back the colour that a number of people loved and would buy over and over, because this colour is not a good replacement.

Good colour but damaged hair.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I used it few times. Smell is ok. Easy to apply. Great colour as a result. But it is damages hair so much. When i read more careful about it i realise that this product wirking in few steps. First step it is making your hare eithout tone with peroxid and after it is coloured your hair in red tone. Colour is fantastic.very bright. But after just few washes is washing out and not so bright and glowing any more. I will not buy it again because it will kill my hair.

Great dye for a budget bold colour!

I have used this dye twice now and I love it. I have naturally medium brown hair and this brightens my hair to a vibrant red with no bleach which is amazing. It does fade so redying hair every 8 weeks or so is necessary, but my hair faded to quite a pretty reddish copper so I’m not mad. It leaves hair feeling soft, doesn’t smell too strongly and the gel is really good for being able to see where you have and haven’t applied due to on your hair. I love it!
