What is foundation serum?

Is tinted serum the same as BB cream?
BB cream and tinted serums are similar but not the same. Both provide sheer coverage and skincare benefits, but BB cream often includes SPF and acts more like a moisturiser with pigment. Tinted serums focus more on active ingredients like hyaluronic acid, delivering hydration and glow with a buildable tint.
Is tinted serum better than foundation?
Whether tinted serum or foundation is better for you depends on your skin needs and preferences. Tinted serum is better if you want light coverage, hydration, and added skincare benefits. Foundation is better suited if you want more coverage or prefer a specific finish, like matte or satin.
Is L'Oréal Serum foundation water-based?
No, the L'Oreal Paris True Match Serum Foundation is silicone-based, not water-based. While our True Match serum foundation does contain water as a primary ingredient, it also includes dimethicone, a type of silicone. Despite this, the formula combines serum and foundation benefits to hydrate the skin and provide coverage without clogging pores - similar to a water-based foundation.
Do you put serum foundation on before or after moisturiser?
It's best to apply your serum foundation after moisturiser, just like you would a regular foundation or BB cream. This ensures your skin is properly hydrated and the serum foundation applies smoothly, for a radiant, natural finish.

Gives more even skintone

I have been using the Light shade 2-3 which seems to suit my skin tone well. It comes out more runny than I thought it would but then I guess that is because a serum rather than a standard tinted moisturiser. It applies easily using my fingers and I hardly feel like I even have anything applied as it feels so featherlight on my skin. It only gives a light coverage, however my skin appears more radiant once applied and gives a more even skin tone. One thing I think I would have preferred is a pump instead of the dropper as I find the dropper more awkward and fiddly to use plus I don't need to open the product to the air with a pump pack each time.

Finally a foundation that makes it easy

OK I confess I normally hate wearing foundation due to sensory issues. I have severe rosacea and perimenopausal chin pimples but decided to try this after reading great reviews. I didn’t want a complicated colour selection and found the colour match as perfect as promised. I’m seriously impressed with the texture and weightless feeling on my skin and resulted in beautiful (for me) skin for Christmas Day photos with my family even though it was hot and humid. I also used the pore mimizing primer and a fixing spray to set it so that probably helped but the durability but it still looked great after 12 hours. Purchased on sale would buy at that price again.

Perfect Skin Match

The L’oreal True Match Nude Plumpling Tinted Serum was blissful to use. The colour match I received was 2-3 light and it was a perfect match to my skin tone. It was very light to use, which I absolutely love (I dislike a thick make-up coverage) and it created a great base for me to build my cheek blush on. The included 1% pure hyaluronic acid left my skin feeling hydrated throughout the day too giving me the confidence that my make-up application was staying on and not drying out. I’m so glad that L’oreal has made this tinted serum. It’s great for people who love lightweight and hydrating make-up coverage.

Perfect shade for a healthy look

As I am now in my early 40s, the signs of aging and sun damage have definitely started appearing on the skin on my face. The L'Oreal Paris True Match nude is a natural looking tinted serum that made my skin appear younger and the tone more even. It is easy enough to apply, although, I am not a huge fan of the dropper (it was a little messy). It is great for day time wear and wore well throughout the day, without caking into my wrinkles or fine lines. Importantly, the tint does not rub off onto my clothes. My skin looks healthy and it provides as almost matte finish with a light, natural and even coverage.

Good hydrating coverage

I really liked this serum/foundation as it felt lightweight, hydrating and provided good coverage. It blends into the skin so well and the range has a great variety of shades to match a wide array of skin colours. I like how easy this was to apply and very comfortable to wear, not like heavy/cakey more traditional foundations. It still allows your natural skin to shine through and breathe and it didn't irritate my sensitive skin or break me out either. I would highly recommend this to anyone wanting a lightweight hydrating coverage solution that leaves your skin looking and feeling radiant, fresh and supple.

Bouncy and light!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've just tried this plumping serum and i must say the texture is definately more runny than i expected. That said, i like how the applicator is a pipette, far more hygienic for daily use. The serum upon initial application is really light and fluid. Skin feels bouncy on application and blend in seamlessly. The shade was a great match for my Chinese medium skin tone. I sampled 'light'. Certainly wouldn't say it will hide any imperfections but it makes your skin look like a better version of itself. Looks quite dewy so you might have to powder in top if you don't want any shine.

True match plumping serum

It does make my overall complexion look smoother when I have it on but I would have to continue using it for longer to see if it really plumps - I'm currently not noticing too much of a difference. I am a little confused as to when I'm supposed to put it on in the skincare routine due to the tinting, as I normally put moisturiser over my serum (there are no clear instructions on the bottle itself). When I use it with the moisturiser, the serum balls up a little, which is a negative. Not a bad product to wear on its own when I'm not wearing full makeup for work.
