Magic Retouch Magic Retouch Permanent 10 Minute Colouring Kit - 5 Brown

I received the L’Oreal Paris Magic Retouch Permanent Root Touch Up Dye Kit to sample. I have always seen these on the shelves at the stores and have often wondered what they’d be like. So I put it to the test. I had lots of grey regrowth around my hairline, so here goes. I waited 10 minutes then washed it out. Unfortunately the dye didn’t take and the greys remained. As I have short hair, I didn’t use all of the dye, so I reapplied what was left. After the 2nd application, the greys faded a little but not a total coverage. It was better than what it was but I’m not convinced that I’d buy the product. Maybe if my hair colour was lighter and not brown it maybe different. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’ve tried the other temporary root cover spray before, and was expecting this one to be of a similar format. I was surprised to find this is in fact a more traditional style of hair dye. What did impress me was the applicator. This comes with a unique (to me) brush applicator, to really get into your roots. It looks like the brush might be able to be reused, and I will certainly try to reuse it when I use my usual L’Oréal hair colourant. I’m not sure this product is worth the money, unless of course you were to use a new brush applicator each time.

Loreal Magic Retouch Permanent is a quick and easy grey roots touch up coverage, with little mess. The brown colour was good. However, after ten minutes the brown colour did not fully penetrate into my hair, as with other hair touch up products I have tried, which normally require the solution to be on the hair for twenty minutes. I think, if I had left the solution for a longer period of time, I would have received better results. After washing my hair a week later, the colour in roots has remained. Overall, I would rate this product as just ok.

My grays grow as quickly as the length of my hair. And it’s too expensive and troublesome to get to the salon each time. L’Oréal Paris Retouch does exactly as it claims. The roots of my entire head of hair is touched up within 10 minutes and without leaving any sticky residue behind. It’s as easy to apply like you would with any hair colour home treatment but with quicker longer lasting results. Having a box of L’Oréal Paris Touch Up stashed at home is a great DIY to permanent root touch up that is safe and a stellar way to cover grays.

This touch up kit was fairly easy to apply with a great colour match to my already coloured hair. It was quick to mix up in the bottle though care needs to be taken to ensure it doesn’t flow out the top after taking the cap off. There was no mess in applying and the coverage over grey hairs was solid. A little more mixture would add greater coverage but generally, there was enough colour to cover the prominent regrowth areas for a quick, emergency touch up between regular colouring times.

I used L’Oréal Paris Magic Retouch Permanent Root Touch Up Dye Kit 5 Brown for the first time and it is a winner. It took less than 20 minutes from start to finish (setting up, mixing, applying, waiting and washing )and the result is outstanding. I like that is super easy to apply with the little brush that comes with the kit. One thing I noticed and loved it was that there wasn't a strong toxic smell on my bathroom, like with most Permanent hair colours. I give it 5 stars hands down.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I found this a struggle perhaps as first time user, but I guess like any hair product continued use gets better results I’d get used to the brush so Not judging too hard. I have thick hair and this was great size for small area I would probably buy more to use to ensure full coverage don’t wanna miss any. I think if I dyed my hair then chose same colour for this as a touch up, it would last so more longer which is ideal. Looks great, it is magic.
