1) Add the colouring cream to the developer and shake well to mix.
2) Apply the mix to your hair, starting from the roots then throughout the lengths and ends. Leave in hair for 30 mins. 3) Rinse your hair until the water runs clear. Use the Caring Gentle pH Shampoo to remove any excess residue.
4) Apply a hazelnut amount of the Lightweight Nourishing Mask. Leave in for 3 mins then rinse your hair. Use the mask once a week until your next colour for soft, shiny, lively hair.

The dye itself is good, but I bought the rich auburn shade to re-dye my hair and it came out brown. I’m fine with darker auburn, which I thought this would be, especially considering the guide on the back of the box. I followed all the instructions and my hair is now brown. I still think it looks nice but I want to be copper/ginger again :(

I purchased this product yesterday after having managed to lightened my hair over the past year which cost a lot of money and time, I though I could now just dye my hair myself as it was now a nice LIGHT brown. After reading the box and looking at the colour chart this colour was exactly what I was after, I coloured my roots first then my ends, left it for only 20 minutes ( recommenced is 30) and after washing this out my hair is almost black!! I am so disappointed and now have to

A couple of months ago I wrote a scathing review on this product, and now I'm back again. During that time I notice there have been many more bad reviews. Loreal did send me to a salon to have the problem corrected, and did send me new product - so this is the result of my 1st at home colouring since the last saga and using the replacement product. Again not true to colour, and not covering greys - and I left this on for well over an hour. At lease it came out of the bottle this time and it's not 'green' - but it's still not covering greys and is not the dark brown colour it should be. Obviously they DO NOT test their products, if they did - this wouldn't be happening. Also (from experience), sadly Loreal do not recall faulty products so I hope you read this and move to another product.

I've always bought Loreal in other countries , and its been my favorite. This is obviously not the case with loreal australia the shade turned out almost black. There is obviously something wrong with their production as I see there are several reviews that the result was nothing like what they promised. Years of using loreal dye and never so wrong!

30 years I have used this product with no complaints, this new formula should have been taken off the market when the first complaints started. I suspected something wasn't right when I opened the first packet, so I opened another packet (2 different batchs) - it didn't look any better than the first packet, but I proceeded with my root touch up. The formula was a cacky brown/green colour and just about set like concrete in the bottle. Very hard to get out of the bottle, so applying it was also extremely difficult! After 40 mins it was still showing the greys, and had not taken on my brown hair also - so I waited a further 20 mins - and NO better! It is obvious this product was NOT TESTED before entering the market! It is also obvious that the company is LACKING CUSTOMER CARE, it should have been tested when the BAD reviews started. If they had tested it when these bad reviews started, surely L'oreal would have done a PRODUCT RECALL - because they haven't, I can only assume they haven't any customer RESPONSIBILITY!!! How many people have been inconvenienced I wonder?

I've fallen for this twice now and am really annoyed. I did a test section at the back of my daughter hair, did 2 foils, waited the recommended 30mins and nothing. Waited a further 30 mins and nothing. The hair has not lifted to very light blonde. The only reason you can see the foils from one of the photos is that the hair is wet and I just removed the foils. After i washed it out and it dried for 5mins there's no difference. Certainly not very light blonde. My daugther already has dark bonde hair naturally so this should have worked perfectly. big fail. I'd also like to say that the customer service lady who I sent the photos too was trying to tell me that the product has worked when clearly it hasn't.

Easy to use, my hair was so soft afterwards but this made my hair a terrible orange brown colour! Not ash brown at all!

Have been using this dark brown for years but new formula turned my hair green and when I washed out was a light brown inconsistent with the old darker colour in my hair and still had the green shade to it. Will have to redo!

I have been using Excellence Creme Blonde 8 for over 20 years, of which I was very happy. BUT Recently the product has changed packaging. The product has also changed, the colour base and the activator are so thick I can not get them mixed and squeezed out of applicator bottle. The product does NOT cover my grey . I have used 2 boxes of this new upgraded product. I am not happy with the result and will no longer be using this product.

I have been using this product for about 10 or 12 years - not natural brown, but 5.6 Auburn.
The product now has a strong amonia/bleach smell - not noticed previously
The colour does not last as long as it used to.
One of the best things about this product was that it took less time for the water to run clear than all others, and that is still the case. I will have to go back to trying other brands now, to find one that lasts and doesn't have that strong smell. I have previously recommended this product to many friends but not any more. Please advertise when you go back to the old recipe so I can come back.

I bought my normal Light Ash Blonde 9.1 which actually was in the wrong packaging (wrong picture and wrong name 'Ash Blonde) with no sticker to correct the mistake and no real apology when I wrote to Loreal to make sure I bought the right colour. The supermarket also made no effort to show the mistake. Could have been a bad mistake for someone going by the picture and name and not the number. Now I find instead of the cream to protect the ends, there is a one time use shampoo which I will never use and really it limits the value of the product. For years it has been good so why change. Please get rid of the shampoo and go back to the protecting cream. Not everybody needs the same type of shampoo.

I was so thrilled to receive this L'Oreal Paris Excellence Creme in 5 Natural Brown to trial. It's a wonderful product that gave me excellent grey coverage. It was easy to apply and didn't have an unpleasant odour when I was using it as some hair colourants have. I really liked the shampoo and mask to use after colouring as they left my hair feeling soft and nourished, which doesn't normally happen when I colour my hair. This colour is very close to my natural colour and has completely covered my greys. My hair looks and feels great and I would recommend this colour to anyone wanting a natural-looking brown.
I bought this colour based on the box example provided, however the colour it is so much darker (almost black) in real life...not happy. The photo on the box is so misleading, and now I am stuck with hair that is way too dark. I reached out to Loreal for advice on using one shade lighter next time, and they recommended visiting my local professional hairdresser for the removal and lightening of my hair colour before I use a lighter shade...hmmm, pretty sure they don't put that warning on the box. Also the gloves are of very poor quality and are very small (and I only have small hands). Overall, I am a very disappointed customer and I won't be using this product again.

I have used this product for many years but yesterday’ I applied the new “improved” product but is was so thick that I had to use both hands to squeeze it out ( it used to be easy to apply) but it either didn’t come out or a big glob of hair colour popped out which was very annoying. The old product was never runny it was just a good consistency and came out easily and at a consistent rate. This new product left my hair so stiff after washing thoroughly with the shampoo and conditioner provided that I had to rewash my hair the following day to get rid of the hard hair that felt like I’d used a hair spray. The roots don’t even look like the grey regrowth was covered…,, I am a very unhappy customer and I wish you would return to the older version of this product it is definitely not satisfactory.

Naturally I am a dark brown and just starting to show the grey. I just wanted a touch-up and to hid the silver sparkles. Applied the product as per the box and OMG!!! I.HAVE.BLACK.HAIR and not in a good way. Its way darker than the picture, bordering on black.My before photo is my natural colour (and had just been curled for a wedding). The after is after using this product but both photos have been taken in the same bathroom.

I always use the L'Oréal excellence range and am disappointed that it has changed. I loved the surum, now it's gone. The colour is different, it turned my roots gingery. I am really annoyed as I have been so greatful to find the right product finally, only to have you change it for the worse. The shampoo is lovely, but the serum was what really sold me, that and the good colour, if I wanted ginger, gold hair, I would have chosen the 5.3 and not the 5. Not happy at all with the changes.
Plus, I would like to buy the shampoo and conditioner in larger quantities separately, perhaps a reference on the box would be great. I would have recommended it to others previously, bit not now that it's turned my hair ginger. Not impressed.

Images are big lies. I had beautiful highlights on my hair and mostly blond with a little bit grey roots. But this product 8.1 gave totally dark brown hair. Very frustrated and after tolerating all these chemicals I lost all my effort, time and hundreds boxes on high light.

I bought this product because I seen on the back of the box that my hair is a good candidate for this colour but once I rinsed it out I now have orange hair.. my hair was the middle colour on the back of the box which was meant to turn a lovely blonde colour.. I’m very disappointed in this product and for the false advertising saying I could get to this colour.. I’ve been growing my hair out for over a year and wanted to go blonde at home due to not being able to afford going to a salon I’ve now ruined my hair and don’t know how to get it to what I want or if a salon will even be able to correct what’s happened. I can’t say I’ll ever believe a box colour reference again..

I just used L’Oréal Excellence Crème for the first time, and was impressed with the results. My hair looks richer in colour now. It was originally dyed 6 months ago and needed a good refresh. After just one use, my hair feels softer looks shinier and makes it look so much healthier. My hair is actually dry and brittle and this has made it a whole lot better.
The formula is easy to apply at home, and I like the fact that it didn’t dye my whole bathtub when rinsing it out. The shine and softness were noticeable immediately when it was dried. I’m excited to see how well the colour lasts over time. I highly recommend this dye for anyone looking to refresh their natural colour.

I have been using this color for years and I have always had great comments about my hair. Even my hairdresser thought I had it done professionally. The. A few years ago you changed the formula. I purchased the old formula from EBay and anywhere else I could find it. I am now at the end of my stash. So I purchased this current box. I am so frustrated and have been in tears. Why would you change something that worked so well and turn it into this? My hair is flat and dried out. Did you add bleach or something to the formula? I now have to go to the hairdresser to get it fixed and find a new brand so that I can do it from home once it’s been fixed. I am so confused as to why L’Oreal would do this. I just want the old formula back :(

I bought the same product as usual and found shampoo instead of the protector liquid.
Then I tried to put the gloves on. Hopeless!! I tore one and was more careful with the second, but had to cope with it only half on which caused dramas as the colour was applied. Please quality control the gloves with real women and I dont have large hands.

I have been buying and using L'Oreal Excellence creme for years. Today I used the "new" one and am very disappointed that the gloves seem to have been downsized to the piont that I could not even get them on. I am not a large person but had to dye my hair without the protection of the gloves. L'Oreal, please go back to giving usable gloves!

I bought L'Oreal Excellence number 3. My hair is the same as the picture on the box. Yet when I use it, my hair looks black. So I let it grow out foe 6 months. You could see my natural hair was lighter. So then I tried number 4. Same thing! It's been a few mi ths now and I am going to try number 5 even though on the box, her hair looks a lot lighter than mine actually is. I let it go a few months so I can see what my natural colour is. Otherwise I dye it every 4 weeks.

I have used Age Perfect Rose Blonde for many years with excellent results. I have very resistant grey, but just loved the cover Age Perfect provided. When I went to buy, was informed it was no longer available and was recommended Exellence pearl blonde!! I am just so disappointed with results!! Coverage was very poor and my hair felt so much drier, I had to use Argan oil !! Will you be bringing Age Perfect back , if not,,I will have to change brands, which I am reluctant to do, as I have never found as good as product as Age Perfect to suit my hair, I am of “mature age” and don’t like changes!!!! This product came at perfect time. I have been avoiding colouring my hair to get rid of the greys but with this product to trial there was no more excuses. Firstly the instructions were easy to follow and all items easily labelled. I do have large hands and found the gloves to be very small and tight to put on. Everything once used I put in the box which helped me keep the area clean. There was enough solution to cover my just below the shoulder hair length. The ammonia smell was very strong. Overall i was extremely pleased with the ease to complete this easily at home on my own. Will definitely purchase again. The result was a nice colour that covered my greys easily. After using the shampoo and the mask product my hair feels soft and healthy after the colour.

I have been using L’Oréal Excellence for decades to cover my resistant grey hair with excellent results and would tell anyone that would listen it is the best by far BUT that all changed with this new formula. I have used the new formula twice now and find it has a strange texture and it does not adhere to my grey hair resulting in a muted colouration that fades quickly over time.
Sadly, I will no longer be purchasing.

I was lucky enough to be sent a box to trial this out.
I've always done a DIY hair colouring and I thought the instruction was straight forward and things are easy to use.
I tested the colourant as requested before I coloured my hair. Love the 2 attachments provided, I used both as a combo (did my roots with the funnel looking attachment and the brush for the remainder of the hair). Left it for 30 minutes and rinse, shampoo and conditoner were then applied.
My hair is black colour- and i thought post colouring, it would be more subtle. I am pleasantly surprised that it is quite nice (almost like a medium brown for me) and it stands out- totally dig it. I must say being a DIY, I'd need to concentrate on the medium to bottom, rather than roots to have even colour. Overall, totally recommend.

Colour on box is nothing like the finished result. Dark blonde is actually brown. Not at all happy with the result.

I have been using this product for many many years, even though it is one of the most expensive brands it's my go to because I trusted the outcome. I dye my hair every fortnight and over the last couple of months (give or take) it has made my roots turn green!!! I wished I had look at the reviews before dying my hair today, otherwise I wouldn't have wasted my money again!! I was told to leave it in for 45mins, I did this time, the green is not as bad, but my roots are still green. What have you done to this product for this to happen as of late? Not happy!!

I used to love and use this brand and still do.
However, I had a really bad reaction to this product and still recovering.
So I would only recommend if you complete a patch test first, I found the smell really strong when I did the strand test. My eyes were red and swollen, I have had a rash all over my neck, shoulder and collarbone area. The tested area of colour applied has been red and itchy, I have had to resort to a Dermal cream to relieve the irritaion. I hadn't coloured my hair for over 4 weeks to be able to use this product. Apologies, I would love to give a great review, but i just really can't.

i have been using a beige ash blonde for several years, i different brand.i thought to add a little warm to the colour & this was on special.i have quite a few greys i suppose, havent really checked. my hair is lighter than the lightest on the box but after using this it came out a reddish colour a liitle like the before in the middle photo on the box. very disappointed.its faded now, faster than my other brand, so hopefully when i use that again it will cover any redness. it appears from most reviews of this colour others are also seeing RED !

This gave me the look I've been wanting. To go back to being all natural brown. I absolutely loved the ease of doing it myself. The coverage was amazing, so easy to apply. The scentof left was not over poweringlike some dyes I've used in the post this was very pleasant. I love that you get a small tube to use for a week to help keep your hair feeling fresh and full of colour. I'd recommend this brand hands down.

The product was easy to mix and apply, however the comb applicator was very hard and scratchy on the scalp.
Once washed the roots took the colour really well but the rest of the hair only changed colour slightly and my golden hair could still be seen.
The shampoo and leave in conditioner smelt great and left my hair feeling so soft and light.
Great for grey hair coverage but not for an overall colour.

After years of professional tinting, COVID-19 lockdown forced me to touch up my grey myself. I have long blonde highlighted hair but like a darker base. Was after a mid ash/cool brown and it’s exactly what I wanted. I was a little worried as it processed as it went very dark and purply/grey but after washing it off and drying it is perfect! . In fact it’s better than what my hairdresser was doing so now I’ve saved $80 every five weeks. I’ll just get the foils done by my hairdresser. The Creme masque is lovely and hydrating for after your shampoo and my hair smells lovely too.
