Boost Your Skincare Routine:
How to Pure Clay Mask in 5 Easy Steps

Want a smooth and hydrated complexion? By adding a weekly clay mask to your skincare routine It helps to cleanse and add moisture without leaving an oily residue. Here's how it's done!

Step One: Cleanse Your Skin

Thoroughly cleanse skin to remove any build-up of dirt, oils or makeup. This allows the mask to penetrate deep into your pores and really work its magic.

Step Two: Apply An Even Layer

Use clean fingers or a brush to apply a thin, even layer. Less is more with a clay mask- a thick layer takes longer to dry and any product that doesn’t touch your skin is a waste!

Step Three: Sit Back & Relax

Sit back and relax for 10-15 minutes while your mask gets to work. Why not go all-out on your pamper session and use this time to apply a hair mask or paint your nails?

Step Four: Rinse & Pat Dry

Once your mask has set and dried, wet a clean face washer with lukewarm water and rub away the clay in small, circular motions. Repeat until all mask is removed. Next, reach for a clean towel and lightly pat your skin until dry.

Step Five: Moisturise

Once you’ve rinsed and dried, your skin will be feeling ahhh-mazingly soft and rejuvenated! Follow up with a lightweight moisturiser to lock in the goodness.

How to
Tailor Your Skincare To You

As tempting as it is to copy our best friend or work colleague’s skin care routine, the quest for your best skin should start with getting to know exactly what type of skin you have, what you should look for, and what you should avoid when developing a skincare routine to suit your individual needs and concerns.

Dry, sensitive skin?

This is one of the most common skin types, and is most often caused from not having enough water in the epidermis layer of your skin, however a daily routine can make a huge difference.

Cleanse: Use a creamy, soap and fragrance-free cleanser before going to bed and rinse with cool water.

Moisturise: Particularly important for dry skin, you want to moisturise at least two times a day. Look for ingredients such as coconut, avocado, sunflower, olive, almond or jasmine which are ideal for increasing moisture levels of the skin.

Exfoliate: Exfoliation helps get rid of any dead skin, allowing your skin to absorb your moisturisers more effectively. Aim to exfoliate every one to two days.

Recommendations: Age Perfect Cleansing Milk, Pure Clay Red Algae Exfoliating Scrub

Oily skin?

Another extremely common skin type; oil prone skin can come from excessive sebum produced on the face which can create an oily shine and may lead to blocked pores.

Cleanse: The ideal oily skin cleanser needs to be a balance between gentle, hydrating, and effective. It’s recommended to cleanse every morning and night with key ingredients like koalin or lemon and rinse with lukewarm water, not hot or cold.

Moisturise: Don’t fall into the trap of thinking you don’t need any more hydration and skipping moisturiser. Instead use a lightweight moisturiser, particularly one with hyaluronic acid or retinol that aims to reduce pores and mattify your skin.

Serum: This might sound like an odd step to add more oil to oily skin, but doing so can actually help reduce excess sebum to create a balanced, radiant complexion.

Recommendations: Pure Clay Eucalyptus Purifying Cream Wash, Revitalift Filler [HA] Day Cream, Age Perfect Intense Nutrition Serum

Blemish-prone skin?

Unfortunately for a lot of us, blemish-prone skin doesn’t leave us when our teenage years are over. Although there are hundreds of acne treatments out there, the key to combating acne is a good and consistent skincare routine.

Cleanse: A morning and evening gentle cleanse is super important for blemish-prone skin, and double cleansing (cleansing twice each time) is even more effective. Search for ingredients such as salicylic acid (BHA), activated charcoal or sulfur.

Exfoliate: Exfoliating two to three times a week with a scrub will help rid your skin of built up bacteria in your pores that your daily cleanses may have missed.

Micellar Water: Although every skin type should always be removing their makeup before bed, this is particularly important for those of us who experience acne. The prime time for your skin to fight acne is while you’re sleeping, so removing makeup with a natural remover such as Micellar Water, is great for unclogging your pores.

Recommendations: Pure Clay Charcoal Detoxifying Gel Wash, Sugar Scrubs Purifying Scrub, Micellar Water.

How does
Your Skin Change as You Age

As your skin matures, its ability to retain moisture decreases, which can lead to dryness, and this can result in signs of ageing such as fine lines and wrinkles becoming more pronounced. What’s more, your skin’s ability to shed surface dead skin cells can slow down as you age, which can lead to a duller-looking complexion. So, what can you do? Well, it’s all about taking care of your skin—and using a moisturiser that’s designed to address your specific needs, whether that’s dryness, dullness, or fine lines and wrinkles.

When it comes to moisturising, it’s important to pick one that’s right for your skin type and concerns. These days, your needs might be a whole lot different than they were in your teen years. Consider using one of the following anti-ageing moisturisers, depending on your age.

In your 20s or 30s...try the L’Oréal Paris Revitalift Cicacrem. Cica cream is an anti-ageing moisturiser that gets its name from one of the ingredients it is formulated with, centella asiatica. But what is centella asiatica, you ask? It’s an herb, also known as tiger grass, from traditional Chinese medicine. Formulated for the face, our cica cream helps repair the skin barrier to resist visible signs of aging. Think of this cica cream as a shield for your skin. External factors (such as pollution and dirt) and internal factors (like stress and dehydration) all can age your skin. They can come in and break down the moisture barrier, like holes in the shield. RevitaLift Cicacream strengthens the skin barrier like a cocoon to protect the skin from external factors.

In your 30s or 40s...try the L’Oréal Paris Revitalift Laser Day Cream. Formulated with hyaluronic acid and Pro-Retinol, this anti-ageing moisturizer quickly absorbs and leaves skin feeling velvety soft. Immediately, skin is deeply hydrated, while skin texture looks smoother, skin feels firmer, and the appearance of wrinkles is reduced with continued use over time. Every morning and evening, smooth the moisturiser over your face, neck, and jawline until thoroughly absorbed. For best results, use in conjunction with other Revitalift skin care products.

In your 50s or over...try the L'Oréal Paris Age Perfect Golden Age Rosy Day Cream. As skin matures, its ability to renew surface cells slows down and this can cause a build-up of dead cells on the surface. As a result, your natural pink tone can become hidden as your complexion starts to look dull, losing its natural rosy tone which is a signifier of youth. This intense daily moisturising cream is enhanced with illuminating pigments to help revive your skin’s rosy tone. The formula is also enriched with imperial peony and LHA to help gently exfoliate dull skin. This moisturiser helps to hydrate skin immediately and make it appear renewed with continued use over time. Smooth it gently onto cleansed skin in a circular motion every morning.
