Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works almost as well as promised! I'm 63 years old and have been developing lines on my face, courtesy of our stunning sunshine and dry climate. While this is just normal aging, I still like the way that the Base Magique does an excellent job of smoothing out the appearance of wrinkles around my eyes and my "smile lines". It also gives a subtle smoothness and nice matte finish to my facial skin overall. I've been using it now for 2 years and will continue to do so.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from poor texture and difficult to blend well I can't find enough words to express how bad this product is. I am a big fan and use many L'oreal products. But I am sorry to say that L'oreal base magique smoothing primer is something I don't expect the product from L'oreal and the quality is not as good as the other products' quality.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good primer This primer is quite thick and has a light pink tinge to it so it covers dark circles and skin discolouration and brightens the skin giving it a bit of an illumination to it. The only negative with it is you have to be careful what moisturiser you apply before using this. I found if I didn't use a really light moisturiser ie a serum compared to a cream when I applied the primer it would be sticky and would take a lot longer to set than if I just used a light serum instead. The upside is it covers everything and is not scented so you don't get an overpowering scent and doesn't irritate sensitive skin and if you do use a light serum this will allow the foundation to glide over it for ease of application.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Rubbish product This product is poor, and I would never use it again. I am a fan of L'oreal but this product makes me rethink whether I need to change brands.

Three Beauty Trends to Embrace for Spring Racing

Spring Racing Carnival is the perfect excuse to experiment with bold new colours, prints, headwear and of course, makeup.

Cherry Hued Eye.
If you’re heading to Derby Day, a coloured eye is perfect to pair with a monochrome outfit. Add colour with a ripe peach or warm burgundy from the limited edition Cherry My Cheri palette. Best of all it smells like berries - YUM!

A Nude Lip.
Who said spring had to be all bright pinks and pastels? It's always a perfect occassion for a nude lip. The L’Oreal Paris Infallible 2-Step Longwear Lipstick has a nude for you and will ensure you have the perfect pout that lasts all day. Let your eyes be the front runner and pair with a sharp eyeliner.

Blush Draping.
The Spring Racing Carnival is the perfect time to try to the latest contouring trend - blush draping. This under-the-radar makeup technique uses blush to sculpt and contour cheekbones.
Start with a blush one shade darker than your usual and apply below the apples of your cheeks, using an angled brush to sweep the powder horizontally along your cheekbones, up towards your temples. Lightly apply a lighter shade of blush over the darker blush to soften any harsh edges.

High Shine Lips
Are Back!

Lover of a matte lip? You might want to look away, because it’s about to get wet, with high shine becoming the trend on everyone’s lips.

Stemming from the resurgence of lip gloss that hit our feeds and fashion runways last year, the wet-look love has now spread to tinted lip oils and high gloss, lacquered lipsticks, with our new Colour Riche Shine collection arriving just in time for us to turn on the shine for spring/summer.

So to get our pouts ready, we’re sharing three tips on how to get the most out of your new Colour Riche Shine shades.

Prep your pout with a lip scrub.
Hydrated and exfoliated lips can make or break your lipstick application. We recommend L’Oréal Paris Sugar Scrubs. You can also easily make your own scrub at home by combining coconut oil, brown sugar and a touch of honey together then use small circular motions to rub the mixture onto you lips and leave for 1-2 minutes for maximum hydration before wiping clean.

Don’t skip the lip liner.
If you want more defined lips and longer lasting wear, you should never skip the lip liner. To apply, start by parting your lips slightly and apply lip liner liner using small, short strokes. Try to follow your natural lip shape for a more natural look, or draw on the outer lip line for a more fuller lip. Once drawn, use your pinky finger to lightly blend the liner onto your lips to avoid seeing any harsh lines under your lipstick.
TIP: Our Colour Riche Lip Liner pairs perfectly with the Colour Riche Shine collection.

Use a fine makeup brush to apply.
A lot of us sadly don’t have a naturally steady hand and applying lipstick straight from the bullet can be often daunting. To ensure you get the ultimate precision, use a fine makeup brush to apply, then have your lipstick close by throughout the day for any tiny touch ups.

How To
Parisian Beauty

Parisian women have been the epitome of effortless chic for decades. Their ‘less is more’ approach and investment in timeless pieces in both their makeup bags and wardrobes strengthens their style, however it’s the Parisian beauty mantra that makes their technique so enduringly powerful and one that women around the world should embrace: Celebrate and enhance what you naturally have, rather than transform or force something that isn’t there.

Step One: skin, skin, skin.
French women appreciate that healthy and glowing skin is an integral part of their beauty routine. A regular face mask is a must, and cleansing at the end of the day is essential to maintaining the perfect base of your makeup. The L’Oreal Paris Detoxifying & Brightening Charcoal Pure Clay Mask is perfect for purifying and brightening your skin once a week.

Step Two: simple eyes.
When it comes to the eyes, the ‘less is more’ approach is vital. Think subtle nude eyeshadows, if any at all, accompanied by thin but defined eyeliner that emphasises your natural lash line and classic black mascara to enhance your lashes. The L’Oreal Paris Superliner Tattoo Signature Eyeliner is formulated to create ultra-black lines, with up to 24hr tattoo wear with the added bonus of being waterproof, fade-proof and smudge-proof.

Step Three: that red lip.
If there is one beauty staple that Parisian woman swear by, it’s investing in a classic red lipstick. A creamy, red matte lip pairs perfectly with the stripped-back eye and barely-there foundation and stays true to the rule of highlighting just one area of your face. A common beauty hack used by French women is applying their red lip and then kissing the back of their hand to rub onto their cheeks for a blush. The L’Oreal Paris Colour Riche Matte Addiction Lipstick in Scarlet Silhouette is a timeless shade that creates the ideal creamy, matte finish without drying.
