Rated 5 out of 5 by from One of my favourite things about being a beauty loving, addicted even, girl, is how easy and fun it is to change your look with just a swipe of makeup, or in this case, a home hair dye kit. They are just so good these days, so affordable and with so many to choose from, well you could dye your hair differently each week if you wanted to.\n\nThe dye I'm reviewing today is from one of my favourite, most faithful and loyal brands, Loreal Paris. Every product I try from Loreal, whether it's skin care, makeup or hair care and dyes, they just work for me every single time, without fail. Affordable, effective and makes you feel so worth it, you can't go wrong.\n\nSo, this hair dye, highlighting kit actually. I used it one bright sunny Sunday morning, always the perfect time for a makeover. It's just so simple to use, just follow the instructions to mix it up, put on the provided gloves and apply to your hair with the bottle applicator they give you, then leave for 20-30 minutes, rinse out in lukewarm water and apply the colour protecting conditioner provided and you are done.\n\nAfter towelling and air drying my freshly dyed hair, and combing thoroughly and gently, I stepped in front of my mirror, and felt a smile spread across my face, as I looked at my brand new, beautifully coloured and shiny hair. I felt as if I had had a professional dye job, in half an hour, in the comfort of my own home. The golden highlights looked so stunning, so natural like the sun had hit my hair in all the right places. \n\nThat was 5 weeks ago, and my highlights still look freshly done, my hair is in gorgeous condition thanks to the provided colour care conditioner, used once a week, it keeps my colour and hair so soft, shiny, protected and radiant. I will so be using this again, it was easy, quick and affordable.\n\nTry it yourself, change up your look with this brilliant dye kit, and feel the beauty, confidence and power that comes from products like this, from iconic brands such as Loreal Paris.\n It's the beautiful thing about being a skin care, hair care and makeup loving, addicted girl. You have the power to look and feel fabulous, with a swipe of lipstick or a packet of hair dye.\n

Casting Creme Gloss
Q And A

See the answers to questions that the public have asked to help alleviate your first time colouring fears.

Is this product applied to wet or dry hair?
To use this product, wet your hair without washing it and towel dry thoroughly.

Do I shampoo when removing this colour?
No, to remove we advise you add a little lukewarm water and massage thoroughly into the hair. Thoroughly rinse until the water runs clear and apply a generous amount of the shine enhancing conditioner with royal jelly.

Can you use Casting Crème Gloss on previously coloured hair?
Yes you can.

How often can I use this product?
We recommend leaving at least 6 weeks in between colour applications. On your next application you should follow Method 2 for previously coloured hair.

I want to radically change my hair colour, can I use Casting Crème Gloss?
Casting Crème Gloss is designed to enhance natural hair colour rather than to dramatically lighten or darken your hair. If the colour applied is darker than your natural hair colour, new growth at the root will appear more pronounced.

How long does this colour last?
Casting Crème Gloss will gradually fade from your hair. However, results can vary depending on your hair history and condition.

Does it contain ammonia?
Casting Crème Gloss does not contain ammonia.

I have just permed my hair, when can I apply Casting Creme Gloss?
We recommend you wait at least two weeks after using a relaxer, a perm or a straightening process on the hair before applying Casting Crème Gloss. We advise you perform a strand test before colouring your hair as perms and relaxers can leave hair more porous. Porous hair can cause colour to be absorbed faster.

I have long hair, how many boxes of Casting Crème Gloss will I need?
If your hair is below shoulder length or very thick, you may need two boxes to ensure even application.

What is the development time of Casting Crème Gloss?
Always follow the instruction leaflet. The development time for each shade is explained here. Casting Crème Gloss has a development time of 20 minutes. If you require extra coverage of grey hairs add an extra 5 minutes. Start timing as soon as you've finished applying the colour.

If you are refreshing your existing colour or if your hair has been coloured less than 3 months ago, apply to your roots and leave for 15 minutes. Then apply the remaining mixture through the lengths, massage in and leave to develop for a further 5 minutes.

How do I protect my colour from fading?
We recommend you should use Elvive Colour Protect shampoo and conditioner, which is formulated to specifically meet the needs of colour treated hair.

DIY Tutorial:
Easy Ombre Hair

Want to change up your hair colour look? It's easy! This simple video will show you how.
To achieve this look Domenica used Preference Wild Ombres Shade 2 Dark Blonde To Brown. Following the package instructions carefully, Domenica mixes the three ingredients together.
She shakes the bottle side to side to make sure its all combined.

Domenica parts hair where she normally would wear it (you should do the same), then sections the hair into manageable layers. She the puts the gloves on her hands, and applies the product directly to her hair, beginning at the bottom and working her way up, ensuring to blend and work the product through her hair.

Domenica uses an old towel to wipe her hands between sections so that product application stays seamless! Domenica also applies the product to the Expert Brush, running the product through the ends of her hair.

Domenica’s expert tip is use the Expert comb to ‘back-comb’ the product at the mid-lengths to achieve a seamless transition from light to dark!
