Freida Pinto is India’s youngest Dream Girl.

Freida Pinto can almost be considered to be India’s ambassador of Dreams as she dared to dream and never just stopped at that. A vivacious and precocious young girl, Freida aspired to be part of the reel life – an actor in real life. Many years down the line her fledgling childhood dream of acting finally came true. It not only came true in the city of her birth place Mumbai and all across India but also put her on the global canvas of celluloid. She made her passion her dream and worked hard to achieve it and thereby carve a niche for herself. Freida struck gold with her debut film ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ that tells is a story of dreams, hope and optimism. In the movie, Pinto played the female lead called Latika. After six months of auditions, she received a call to audition for ‘Slumdog Millionaire’. Freida Pinto auditioned for Danny Boyle and was short-listed and finally selected to star in ‘Slumdog Millionaire’.

Slumdog Millionaire began to make its mark with at the 2008 Toronto International Film Festival where the movie won the Cadillac People's Choice Award. At the 2009 Golden Globe Awards, the movie won four awards. Freida herself was nominated for ‘Best Actress in a Supporting Role’ at the 2009 BAFTA Awards. For Freida, the defining moment was when the cast won the award for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture at the Screen Actors Guild Awards. That’s when she realized that their little film was actually going to make it big. Slumdog’s success earned her not one but two opportunities to be on one of the most poular television talk shows – ‘The Tonight Show’ with Jay Leno followed by a combined appearance with Dev Patel on the award winning syndicated chat show – ‘The Ellen DeGeneres Show’.

After her successful debut performance in ‘Slumdog Millionaire’, Freida has bagged two more international films – a yet-to-be-named film, to be directed by the veteran director Woody Allen with Josh Brolin, Anthony Sir Anthony Hopkins, Antonio Banderas, and Naomi Watts and the other by Oscar nominated director Julian Schnabel titled Miral.
